Packet Pickup
Muddy Boot PrintYou should pick up your race packet 90 minutes before your race time at Greenhill Park. We will take race day entry forms. The races will start on time and cannot be delayed for any individuals or teams.

The Timing Chip
We use digital timing chips for the mud run. With this technology, we will be able to track each individual runner and team captain with accuracy and precision. We will have race times posted shortly after your race. REMEMBER AWARD MEDALS GIVE TO TOP 3 RUNNERS IN EACH CATEGORY SHORTLY AFTER EACH RACE. DON'T FORGET YOURS IF YOU QUALIFIED.

Installing the Chip
All individual 5k runners and team captains will receive a timing chip in their race packets. Please install this chip to your right shoe. There will be a hospital band enclosed in your packet, use this band to secure the chip to your shoe lace. Please insure the band does not have any slack so that the chip doesn't move around. Excess movement may bother you while you run. Remember, you must have the chip fastened to your shoe in order to have your time tracked properly. Do not lose the shoe with the chip, in the mud pit! Any lost chips will result in an additional charge of $30.00 to the runner. Note: You must pass over the magnetic black mat at the finish line with your chip fastened to your shoe to be timed. Otherwise, you will be disqualified.

Finish Line Results
We have contracted Queen City Timing, Inc. from Charlotte, NC to handle the finish line results. They will be tracking all runners with the champion chip racing system. This is an ID computer chip that is fastened to the runner's shoe. This chip will track individual runners and supply us with accurate race times. Using this system provides fast and accurate run times. In fact, we can get the results to you shorthly after the race.

Tips and Safety

  • Wear your grubby clothes and old sneakers. (Most likely you won't be going home with these clothes.)
  • There will be showers and change tents for runners.
  • Bring a big trash bag so you can take your running clothes home without dirtying your vehicle.
  • Military type cammie (BDU) trousers work the best, but are not required.
  • Leave your jewelry at home. Many runners have lost rings and necklaces.
  • If you have long hair, it is best to put it up.
  • If you have a medical condition, that may impair you, please get an ok from your doctor.
  • Runners should consider wearing goggles when in the Mud Pits.
  • Drink fluids before, during and after your race. (Water and gatorade are best, stay away from sodas.)
  • Do not dive head first into the mud pit. The main mud pit is for low crawling only.
  • This is a fun run so help your neighbor if he or she needs help.
  • There will be a medical team that will follow the pack. There will also be Marines stationed along the course.
  • The Park will have a first aid and water station.
  • It is tradition for all team members to hold hands as they head to the finish line. This represent the Marines battle philosophy "never leave a man behind."
  • If you do not come across the finish line as a team, the Marine Mud Police will send you back to retrieve your team and back to the mud pit you will go!
  • Any team that crosses over without their full five-person team holding hands will be disqualified.
